About the space

The Taubman Health Sciences Library is a distinct space located within the broader building. Enter the library through the double-glass doors off the lobby to find this mixed seating study area. The space is generally quiet, but you’ll notice some noise with the doors opening and closing and people walking through.

Extended hours are available for medical students and graduate students from dentistry, kinesiology, nursing, pharmacy, public health, and social work. Use MCard for entry.

Study seating options

Immediately inside the entrance, there are couches, coffee tables, and the Anatomage Table, plus the Taubman Information Services Desk straight ahead.

Most of the study seating is on your left. As you go towards the south facing floor-to-ceiling windows and past the computing site with printing you’ll find a variety of options including:

  • High-backed pod chairs with low tables and ottomans
  • Adjustable height desks
  • Cushioned bench seating with tables and armchairs on the opposite side
  • Single-side booths with small side tables
  • Counter-height seating
  • Armchairs at tables
  • Tables with moveable chairs

While this is one large open space, much of the seating — such as the adjustable height desks — has privacy separators and supports focused work.

Collaboration areas

On the west wall, there’s an open entrance leading to 3 collaboration areas. Each has a table and large extended display monitors designed for collaboration.
