Where to Return Items

Most items can be returned to any listed location. Indoor drop boxes may require an Mcard for access.

Please return all media items (such as CDs and DVDs) directly to a staffed information services desk or use the designated media drop box at the Music Library. This helps ensure materials do not get damaged.

It’s best to return interlibrary loan materials to the drop box located outside the Interlibrary Loan Office in Hatcher North. This helps us promptly check in items and remove them from your account. The information services desks listed below also accept these returns, but processing may be delayed.

Individuals who have difficulty returning items due to disability can contact the Interlibrary Loan Office to arrange support.

Outdoor drop box locations

Outdoor drop box locations are available at all times, even when library locations are closed. Items returned during closed hours will be backdated to prevent any inadvertent late fees.

  • Hatcher Library: To the left of the south building entry doors (behind the Clements Library)
  • Shapiro Library: Southwest corner near the emergency exit doors and South University driveway
  • Pierpont Commons: At the drive-up entrance off of Murfin Avenue
