HathiTrust

Who we are

What we do

Founded in 2008, HathiTrust is a nonprofit collaborative of academic and research libraries preserving more than 17 million digitized items.

We offer reading access to the fullest extent allowable by U.S. copyright law, text and data mining access to the entire collection for scholarly research, and other emerging services based on the combined collection.

The University of Michigan is a founding member, and host to the HathiTrust staff who are responsible for day-to-day operations.

Our members steward the collection — the largest set of digitized books managed by academic and research libraries — under the aims of scholarly, and not corporate, interests.
