Disaster Response and Recovery Plan for Library Collections

Our Disaster Response and Recovery Plan for Library Collections is intended to help streamline the protection and salvage of materials in the University of Michigan Library’s collections in the event of an emergency.

Emergency help for damaged materials

In the event of an emergency resulting in damaged or wet books or other library materials, call Preservation & Conservation at 734-763-6980. After hours, the voicemail message tells you who to call.

Be prepared to provide:

  • Type of disaster (fire, flood, etc.) and when it started, if known
  • Exact location of disaster (building, floor, room number)
  • What services or people you have already contacted
