How Long You Can Keep Specific Formats

Some formats available in certain library locations are only able to be used in library buildings, or have shorter loan periods. 

Art, Architecture, and Engineering Library

Single issues of journals, reference books, microfiche, and select reserves can only be used in the building. Onsite use of permanent reserves is limited to 4 hours.

DVDs, CD-ROMs, and Career Collection materials have 3-day loan periods.

Askwith Media Library

Most materials can be checked out for 1 week, excluding weekends and holidays.

Audiobooks and some video sets can be checked out for 4 weeks. 

Music Library

The number of sound and video recordings (CDs and DVDs) you can have out at once varies.

  • Undergraduates: Up to 5 items, for 1 week
  • Graduate students, graduate student instructors, faculty, and staff: Up to 10 items, for 3 weeks

Videocassettes and LP records are limited to in-library use only for 4 hours at a time, unless being used by faculty or graduate student instructors for teaching purposes.

Journals may be checked out for 1 day.

Shapiro Library

Students, faculty, and staff may check out current journals and magazines for 3 days.

Video games may only be used in the Computer and Video Game Archive.

Taubman Health Sciences Library

Requested bound journal volumes are for building use only.
