The Special Collections Research Center has strong literary holdings in several languages and spanning centuries. 

Ongoing acquisitions are anticipated in all of the areas of strength.

Areas of strength

  1. American Literature Special Collection

    Published and archival materials, with particular strength in Postbeat poets.

  2. British Isles Literature Special Collection

    Principally published materials by authors from England, Ireland, and other parts of the British Isles.

  3. Hubbard Imaginary Voyages Collection

    Editions of foundational 18th century imaginary voyages Robinson Crusoe and Gulliver’s Travels, as well as earlier and later imaginary voyages.

  4. Russian Literature Special Collection

    Records of small presses publishing Russian literature in the United States in the late 20th century and publications by and about author Vladimir Nabokov.

  5. Science Fiction Special Collection

    20th century periodicals and paperback novels.

  6. The Shakespeare Collection

    A comprehensive archive documenting the early editions of Shakespeare’s works.

  7. Early Spanish Literature Special Collection

    Significant early editions of works by esteemed authors, comedias sueltas, and more from the Spanish Golden Age.
