Hispanic Heritage Month

Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 – October 15) celebrates the histories, cultures and contributions of Americans whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America.

Here at U-M, the celebration is Latine Heritage Month, and this year's theme is Corriente: La felicidad es mi resistencia (Coming thru: Happiness is my resistance). See the Multi-Ethnic Student Affairs website for more information, including a calendar of events.

Visit our guide to Latin American & Caribbean Studies for help finding related resources, including primary and secondary sources in many languages from the region, including Spanish, Portuguese, English, and French, and indigenous languages, such as Quechua, Aymara, Nahua, Maya and Guaraní.

Among the highlights is a unique collection of Cuban handmade books, many of them featured in the online exhibit Intersections: Cultures, Identities, Narratives. And the Labadie Collection, specializing in a range of social protest movements, has extensive holdings related to Latin American and Caribbean studies.
