This open work area has writable surfaces, prototyping tools, and other features well suited for project work and collaboration.

What’s available 

  • Whiteboard and other writable surfaces
  • Moveable furniture 
  • Large-screen monitor 
  • Prototyping tools such as sticky notes, Legos and blocks, and markers
  • Non-circulating reference books related to design, printing history, typography, visualization, crafting, and more
  • Vending machine with free art and ideas

Use of the space

The Design Lab’s PIE Space — which stands for prototype, inspire, and explore — is a semi-enclosed workspace that’s open to everyone for solo study and group work, unless it’s reserved for an event or class meeting.
