About me

Bohyun Kim is the Associate University Librarian for Library Information Technology (LIT), a division that consists of five departments: Architecture and Engineering; Automation, Indexing, and Metadata; Design and Discovery; Digital Content and Collections; and Digital Library Applications. She provides strategic leadership for the LIT division advancing the U-M Library’s innovative and user-centered approach and continuing its vital contribution towards the success of U-M students, faculty, and researchers through the effective and thoughtful application of technology.

Bohyun is also currently a co-interim Associate University Librarian for Collections, overseeing the general Collections area and Technical Services

She is the author of three books – Moving Forward with Digital Disruption (2020), Understanding Gamification (2015), and Library Mobile Experience: Practices and User Expectations (2013) – and the former President (2018 - 2019) of the Library and Information Technology Association (LITA). Currently, she is the co-chair of the BTAA Libraries’ Library Digital Strategies and IT Services group and serves on IFLA’s IT Section Standing committee, ARL’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee, and ALA’s UN Sustainable Development Goals subcommittee. She holds a BA and a MA in philosophy from Seoul National University, a MA in classical philosophy from Harvard University, and a MSLIS from Simmons College.
