U-M staff access to library resources

A recent library survey revealed that some people in the university community aren't aware they have full access to the U-M Library. Everyone with a current Mcard can use the library's spaces, services, expertise, events, exhibits, and one of the most comprehensive collections in the world.

Our collection is built to serve research and scholarship, but there are plenty of general interest materials, including books, feature films, magazines, and newspapers. Among the highlights:

  • Kanopy video on demand, featuring classic cinema, indie film, and top documentaries.
  • Popular titles (e-books and audio) in Overdrive, which you can access in a browser, on your Kindle, or via the Libby app.
  • PressReader, offering page image views of recent issues of more than 7,000 newspapers and magazines from around the globe, covering everything from the news of the day to fashion, politics, and niche hobbies. There's even a mobile app (Apple and Google, for on-campus use only).
  • Computer and video games and the equipment to play them (onsite use only).

We also offers database access to many periodicals and other publications with issues both past and present (often text only). Some publications restrict access to the most recent content, but many offer full access, including:
