Happy New Year 2022

January 6, 2022

In today’s sharp sparkle, this winter air,

any thing can be made, any sentence begun.

On the brink, on the brim, on the cusp,

praise song for walking forward in that light.

From Praise Song for the Day by Elizabeth Alexander

Line drawing of Winnie the Pooh half out of a hole and looking up at Christopher Robin who is reading a book.

Among the new year's prospects are the trove of works that enter the public domain. Joining Winnie-the-Pooh this year are many notable films, books, and songs, including all of the hundreds of thousands of sound recordings made prior to 1923 — works that can now be freely copied and shared, and also reconsidered and adapted by the generations that inherit this priceless legacy.

Wishing you a creative and healthy new year.
